Autumnal colour in the garden

At this time of year we no longer see the full blooms of the summer garden.  However, autumn has its compensations.  The beautiful autumn colours in our gardens and landscape are often very striking to look at, giving interest right the way through from September onwards.  Leaf colours soften to rich shades of yellow, orange, red, purple and brown before finally dropping.  There are also plenty of berries, fruits, and seed heads on trees, shrubs and smaller plants.  This beautiful colour is reflected in our garden art for September.

Monet’s famous garden

Monet painted in his garden all year round, but this 1900 painting of the famous waterlily pond with the Japanese bridge is full of rich colour.  We’re used to seeing the bridge and pond at Giverny in summer shades of green.  However, this particular picture captures a wonderful array of reds and purples.
