10 Oct Living walls are Great for Winter
Most people enjoy their gardens in the spring and summer, and like spending time in the tranquility of an area with plants. So if your garden consists solely of a balcony or terrace, or perhaps a courtyard, a Rosewood living wall probably seems a good investment for the warmer months. But are you making the mistake of thinking it’s less useful once autumn draws on? We say you shouldn’t think like that! Being outside in nature is good for us at every time of year. For this reason we think living walls are great for winter as well as summer. Here’s why!
Why is a vertical garden lovely in winter too?
Fresh air and spending time with plants is good for mental and physical health alike, and that’s true all year round. But you wouldn’t sit out in a blazing heatwave without the right preparation and accessories to make you comfortable, would you? Instead you choose lightweight clothing, maybe wear a sunhat and make sure you have a cold drink. These things all make the experience more pleasant. Similarly, you make suitable preparations for sitting out in colder weather. Wear a snuggly jumper, and perhaps pull a cosy blanket around you. Use a firepit to get some wonderful flames going, or light your patio heater. Keep warm with a hot drink, whether you prefer tea, hot chocolate or perhaps a lovely glass of mulled wine! Stay comfortable and enjoy your green space in autumn and even winter.
We design our living walls with year-round planting
Bearing all this in mind, we know you’ll want a vertical garden that’s green in winter too, whether you’re sitting out by it, or just admiring it through the window! We design every Rosewood living wall with care, using a good mix of evergreen and semi-evergreen plants to ensure year-round interest. Whatever the time of year, you can rely on our planting to have plenty of colour and texture to create visual interest that adds a new dimension to your space.
