Plants in the workplace bring so many benefits, both to individuals and to the company as a whole.  These include supporting mental and physical health of staff, and even increasing productivity.  Not only that, but plants make a great decor choice – when they’re well looked after they look fabulous.  Take it from us that plants are a good thing, and the greater the number you have, the more you reap the benefits!  So what’s the best way to bring large numbers of plants into your workplace? We it’s think office greening with living walls!

Why living walls?

There are two important reasons why a vertical garden makes an effective solution for keeping lots of plants.  First of all, plants grouped together make their own microclimate within an indoor space.  In other words, being close to each other improves their physical wellbeing.  They retain moisture and humidity better when they’re together, and just seem generally happier!  This can of course be achieved by having lots of plants in separate pots placed in one location.  This could work as an alternative to a living wall.  However, the second thing that makes a living wall such a great solution can’t be achieved in any other way.

The other reason living walls make a wonderful way to incorporate lots of plants in one space, is that caring for them becomes infinitely easier.  We supply most of our green walls with full irrigation fitted – in other words, there’s no manual watering involved!  However, even in circumstances where we can’t do this (eg if there’s no water supply close by), watering is the easiest thing imaginable.  Our living wall troughs have a reservoir in each one, that retains enough water for about two weeks.  The reservoirs have the water level marked on the side, like a kettle.  This allows you to see when more water needs adding.  At that point, you water the top trough, and water moves down through the watering system of the living wall to fill all the reservoirs in all the troughs.  So simple it’s unbelievable!
